All About Me and My Unique Personality: Hi there, I’m Ellie! Because I spent most of my early life in a shelter cage, I’m still learning what it actually means to "be a cat." Living in a home is a brand new world for me, and I take things at my own slow, careful pace.
At this stage in my journey, I do not like human interaction yet, and hands-on affection is not something I’m comfortable with. However, I am making small bits of progress as I discover my curiosity and learn to navigate a household. Watching me figure out how to explore, play with the other cats in care and find my confidence is incredibly rewarding—you just have to celebrate the tiny victories!
My Ideal Home: A Very Patient, Experienced Feline Expert: I need a calm, understanding human (or family) who deeply understands cat behavior, body language, and fear-based progress.
Zero Expectations & Lots of Time: I need a home where I will never be rushed, forced out of hiding, or pressured to socialize before I’m ready.
A Safe Space: A quiet home with a dedicated "safe room" (with cozy hiding spots like covered beds or open closets) where I can feel secure while I build confidence at my own pace.
What is Known About My Background: I spent the majority of my life living in a shelter environment before moving into my very first foster home in January. Having spent so much time confined, normal home sights and sounds are still quite overwhelming to me. I spent my first few months mostly staying tucked away in a cupboard, but slowly and surely, I’m learning that the world outside of a cage isn't so scary after all.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets: Kids: A quiet, low-traffic home without young children is required, as sudden movements and loud noises will reset my progress at this stage.
Cats & Dogs / Other Pets: I get on well with the other cats in care, though it did take me some time to warm up to them. I am now happy to play with them and we are good friends though.
I have not as yet met any dogs.
