All About Me and My Unique Personality: Riley is a sweet and affectionate cat with a very gentle temperament. When his foster carer comes home for the day, he greets her with meows, head rubs, and lots of purring. Riley loves to sit on the lounge with his foster carer throughout the day and will snooze by the windowsill watching birds. He is very easy going and gentle and loves to be around his owner.
My Ideal Home: Riley will need a calm environment that can ease him into his change of home. He would suit a smaller family with minimal pets and stressors and will require his owners to feed him a prescription only diet (see next section for more info).
What is Known About My Background: Riley came into foster care due to his previous owner’s change of circumstances. He was quite stressed in his move and took some time to settle in, however he is now thriving in foster care. He would require some TLC and patience when transitioning to his forever home.
Riley has a history of suspected idiopathic cystitis (urinary tract disease) which has mostly unknown causes but can be influenced by stress. Riley experienced flair ups of this while in foster care, likely due to the stressful nature of his move away from his old home, and was treated by his vet. This condition is manageable by reducing stressors in the home, feeding him a prescription urinary care diet, and if required at times of high stress, e.g. moving between foster care and forever home, anti-anxiety medication. With these treatments in place, Riley has been happy and doing well in his foster home.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets: It is unknown how Riley interacts with other pets, however he is very gentle and would be suitable for children. Older children would be preferable due to his need for a calmer environment.
