Volunteering with Hunter Animal Rescue
Volunteering for Hunter Animal Rescue is not just about taking dogs and cats into care!
Can you volunteer a few hours every now and then to help us at fundraising events?
Can you sell merchandise, sew, cook, print, photocopy, photograph, drive, fundraise, design documents or update webpages?
We could use your help!
Volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation. We rely on the generosity of our very valuable volunteers to help us achieve all of our goals. Volunteering is a very rewarding experience. You will meet lots of new friends, both human and furry, and have lots of fun, while making a real difference to the lives of our foster animals.
Just fill out our Volunteer Application Form to get involved.
Its fast, easy and free.
We hold many events through the year, from our annual Pets Picnic, to Meet and Greet Days, BBQs, stalls at shopping centres, visits to schools and nursing homes and Santa Paws Photo days at Petquarters. We need volunteers to help us organise and run these days smoothly so that they are safe and fun days for our supporters and foster animals. Can you help by volunteering at some of our events?
Simply fill in the Volunteer Application form above. We will send an email once a month with all our upcoming events. If you wish to volunteer at one, simply email us back and let us know. If you are unable to volunteer that month, then just delete the email, no pressure, volunteer as much or as little as works for you!
The majority of HAR animals are rescued from Singleton, Muswellbrook, Port Stephens and Wyong Animal Care Facilities.
We reguarly need transport for these animals to and from carers, vets and even to new homes. Sometimes we will require jobs like picking up supplies.
We generally email out transport requests containing the type of animal needing to be transported and the location of the pick up/drop off points.
If you can help please fill out the volunteer application above.
Does your work have an Intranet?
Volunteers adding HAR info, our ‘Pet of the Week’ and event information to their own networks or intranets dramatically improves the visibility of our foster animals and events, so if you can help with this at your work, please do!
Become a Foster Carer
Fostering is a process of taking an animal who will be put to sleep when their allotted time is up at a pound, and placing them into a carer’s home where they have a backyard to run around in and someone to look after them until their forever home can be found. Carers are all volunteers who provide food, shelter and love while the search is on for the animals forever home.
Foster Carers are usually animal lovers who, for various reasons, are unable to have a pet permanently. We are always in need of new foster carers – the more carers we have, the more animals can be saved.
If you are interested in becoming a carer please complete the online application below and we will contact you shortly.

We appreciate the help that we receive from our younger volunteers. If you are between 16 -18 years of age and wish to volunteer with us, we will need a signed permission note from your parent or guardian to attend our events. If you are under 16 years of age you will need to attend with and be supervised by an adult.
