Sadly Baxter failed his trial as his sister, who had been an only child for 5 years was a little less happy with his company. Baxter is a lovely dog who had spent his life with another dog and cat who have both found new homes after his human Mum had to go into hospital and could not longer care for them.
During his trial, with kids round 9- 10 years old, they had a birthday party with lots of other kids, and in his exuberance to join their soccer game, accidentally nipped at the ankle of one of the kids who then became afraid of him. Not really Baxter's fault as he should have been supervised around this new experience. Nevertheless it makes it clear that he needs a home with people who understand what it takes to integrate a large adult dog into their lives, slowly and surely. Teenagers who are experienced with dogs are ok, but lets get him into a foster home where he can be an only dog or with another submissive and friendly dog.
