About Sumac

All About Me and My Unique Personality: Sumac is a little shy at first but he does love his food rewards and brush and he soon warms up. He loves a good snuggle and will happily make himself at home on your lap.

My Ideal Home: Sumac is more suited to a quiet home where he can be fussed over and treated like the gentleman that he is.

What is Known About My Background: Sumac and his sister Sesame come from the same home where none were desexed and breeding got a bit out of control.
They arrived in the Council Pound in November 2024 and are now looking for their forever home.

How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets: Sumac was in the shelter with his brother Wasabi and his sister Sesame and was great with these other cats.
He would probably be fearful of the raucous activities of young children but older children who let him come to them in his own time will likely form a strong bond over time. Similarly an older gentle dog could also be a good fit for him, and he has recently been spied napping with the dog.

Adoptions are NOT approved on a first come first served basis. The adoption process can be lengthy by the time we process all expressions of interest.
HAR Adoption Process
1. Carer will assess and arrange a meet and greet with suitable applicants.
2. If the meet and greet is successful, a yard/home inspection is conducted.
3. If your yard/home passes inspection, the adoption fee is paid, paperwork completed and a 2 week trial period is arranged.
4. 4- On successful completion of the trial period HAR will submit paperwork to Local Council for processing.
Adoption fee includes:- mandatory de-sexing, microchip, vaccination, vet check, flea and worm treatment.
Please understand that by filling in this form, it by no means guarantees that you will be successful in the adoption process, nor does it obligate you to adopt.
To complete this form an attachment must accompany this application regarding housing status. Either landlord approval to have an animal at the premises, or proof of home ownership.
