About Spike
All About Me and My Unique Personality: Wow! How lucky are you to have stumbled across Spikes profile?!
Because this dog has the most beautiful personality. He really is Mr Perfect.
I CANNOT OVERSTATE HOW DARLING THIS BOY IS.
Spike was in the pound with a number of siblings. He was timid and probably totally out of his element. But almost immediately he was flourishing in a loving home environment. He has been wonderfully behaved and polite with other dogs, although he just wants everyone to play with him. He’s not relentless about pestering other dogs that aren’t interested in him and is easily redirected.
Spike eats very fast, likely because he was fed with his siblings and it’s first in best dressed! He’s pushy and excited when it comes to food but not at all food aggressive.
Spike is sweet and so incredibly loving. He is comfortable being picked up, snuggled, bathed, having his nails clipped and is truly an absolute joy.
He did not like being crated at night and given he’s had no accidents since day one he gets the run of the house except the bedroom at night. He knows he should not enter the bedroom without permission and he cried the first night for 10minutes and settled and is quite comfortable now with that arrangement.
I think Spike is a very smart boy and a quick learner. He seems to pick up what people want from him in just 2 or 3 goes.
He stuck close to us at his first trip to the beach (which he ADORED) and was easy to call over.
Everyone who has met him has wanted him and fallen in love with him. He ticks every box.
My Ideal Home: Spike deserves to be some lucky souls right hand man! He’s the perfect sidekick to an adventurous family and would love to accompany you to the beach or for a hike in the bush.
He‘s lovely with other dogs and would probably enjoy a playful doggy sibling if his owners aren’t keeping him occupied the majority of the time.
I would love him to go to a single, couple or family that enjoys outdoor activities that he can participate in as I know how much he would love that.
This gorgeous boy is honestly very special and will be hard to part with so I really am looking for people who genuinely feel they have a lot to offer him in terms of great quality of life.
What is Known About My Background: Not much other than he was impounded with several littermates. Certain signs in his behaviour suggests they were likely fed together and that they did not leave the area they were kept as he doesn’t seem to have any experience being collared or being on a leash.
He‘s very quickly come out of his shell with a little love.
How Do I Interact with Kids, Dogs, Cats and Other Pets: He’s great with other dogs. Some very fast poodles seem to trigger his herding mentality and he will chase after them and poke them with his nose but is easily dissuaded. He likes to play and will awkwardly put a straight paw out to try to engage another dog or roll around on the ground in front of them with a playful bark.
He has not met any cats or other animals yet whilst being fostered.
