Rehoming PETS IN Newcastle, The Hunter and Central Coast regions

 Some of our success stories!

This has always been one of our favourite pages. Our carers would like to thank the new owners of their beloved former foster animals for taking the time to share updates and pictures

Our carers are constantly asked "how can you do it? I'd never be able to give them up!" The answer is...It can be really hard! We have a fair few foster failures (ie dogs and cats that are adopted by their carers) and all carers have that one (or that dozen) dog or cat that they will never forget. The ones that you get misty eyed about when you get an update email telling you how wonderful she is doing....

Each foster animal is taken in as a member of the carers family and you love them all. Even that dog that ate your lounge or the cat that scratched up the legs of your brand new table. They all leave their little, or big, paw prints on your heart.

The letters you read on this page should give you a clear idea of how we can keep having fosters that enrich our existance for a time and then are gone. Each one of these amazing pets was due to be put to sleep, each of them has recieved a second chance and each of them has found their "forever family".

How do we do it???
We do it for the animals.
Each one we can find that special "forever family" for is another dog or cat we can help!

NEDDY

We were so lucky to find Neddy who took to Arran right away
Arran and Neddy have developed a special friendship.
Thanks to HAR!

BUNDI

Hi Bre,

I took Bundi to the beach yest. morn to Stocko and let him run and play  with another dog and the odd fella doing the surf check. He also tried
to follow me out when I went in. I turned around to find that he got  covered by a shoredump. One minute he was dry ..next drenched with big
floppy ears, with a look of "woa what happened then". But he hung around and enjoyed himself by chasing seagulls and playing with a mates staffy.A good first for him.Last time we were there he ran free but I was with him. So he knows that when he goes in the 4wd he going somewhere cool.

 HARMONY and HOLLY (now  LILLY)

We adopted the kittens Holly & Harmony earlier this year and they are now 4 months old.  My daughter Erin is compiling a Digital Story for a school assignment and has chosen the kittens life as her topic.  Is it possible that you forward via email any photos you may have taken for the website so we can use these in her story.

When I began my search for "a" (meaning one!) kitten to add to our family I came across the HAR website.  What a great idea I thought to rescue a kitty.  I sent an email saying I was interested in either Holly "or " Harmony and arranged a visit to their carers home with my children, Erin & Alex.  When we arrived at the house not only Holly & Harmony where there but also 2 of thier siblings and a whole bunch of other little kittens who were also looking for new homes.  What a decsion to make ..... The three of us sat on the ground and decided to seee who came to us.  Too easy ..... not!!!  They all surrounded us!!  Who would we chose??   I fell in love with a little ginger boy who was their brother whilst the two kids liked the fact that Holly & Harmony were "identical" twin girls.  After spending some time with the kittens and speaking with Jennah, their carer, we decided we had to have BOTH girls so they wouldn't miss each other!!  I still miss their brother now and wish we could have taken him too but I think we made the right decsison to keep the girls together.  The girls are loving their forever home and are certainly spoilt and not lacking any affection.  We decided to rename Holly to Lily as we have as cousin named Holly and the children thought it was a good idea to change to something else so their cousin wouldn't be offended.  Because they were identical we had to take them to the vet to find out who was who!!  After having them for a while we can now (only just) tell them apart from up close.  Lily has a small ginger patch on the top of her neck.  That is THE ONLY difference between them!  We tried putting different coloured collars on them so we could easily see who was who but they both became Hudini's every time we tried so we have now given up on that idea.  It's great for them becasue when they are being mischeivious its hard for us to see who did what!!  Erin and Alex run through the door after school each day and head stright for the kittens  .... one each!  For anybody out there who is wondering I fully recommend two kittens so they can entertain each other.  Its so nice to see them curled up together sleeping and absolutely hilarious waching them play together for hours on end.  On behalf of Lily and Harmony  .....  a big THANK YOU to  HAR and all it's carers for the fantastic job you do.

BUZZ

There is a saying that 'there is someone for everyone' and Buzz is living proof of just that..

Buzz came into care as an unwanted, unruly adolescent Border Collie with his energy switch stuck on high but to his new family he is an upcoming star athlete!!

 HEDWIG AKA OLIVER

Hey there,

I took Oliver (hedwig) home to Dubbo on the weekend. By Singleton he had chewed a hole through the cardboard cat carrier I bought from the vet... grrr! anyway he got out but just curled up on the passenger seat and I didnt hear a peep out of him for the rest of the trip. He got along VERY well with my mums dog and slept next to our 11yr old cat. Oliver was sacred of the chooks at first which was funny. I picked up the proper animal carrier from home, put his pillow in there and he slept the entire 4.5 hours home!

After 2 weeks Muppet and Oliver have become the Best of Friends. I am so amazed and thrilled. They play together then nap, play some more then nap, this goes on all day. They do get quite into their play fighting which I monitor but when I break it up Oliver  is the first to start it up again. Oliver could do some real damage if he wanted with his claws but he dosent.

He really wants to explore my courtyard as he wants to follow muppet which is cute as they do not like being apart. I am teaching oliver to walk with a harness which is going well. Enjoy the photos!

Rowena

  BILLIE aka Roxy

Billie was dumped at the pound with her mother Jemma and 3 siblings at only 4 weeks old

Just a little note of encouragement to all you beautiful HARS people!
.I have not excluded myself , yet , from doing , in the future,  what you guys do ,  but,  I  have only increased my desire to TRY someday ,  to do so because you have inspired me so!,!  After meeting you and seeing close up just what you do, and beginning to understanding just how challenging it must be to raise foster animals, I have only the greatest amount of respect and feelings of gratitude to you all!

Afterall, you were the ones whom were able to give me my beautiful Billie!!! .And, Boy!, is she a dog or what!?!  She has certainly shown herself to be a dog of  extraordinary credits:- * desire to learn ,* gentleness,* a willingness to please * enjoyment in obedience, * intense focus on her "mum" (me), *loyalty to all 4 family members (kids included!), * devotion (sleeps by my side til I wake despite the arousal factor in the household,) *extraordinarily patient and tolerant of being left alone for the 2 days I work, (bbut BOY does she LLLOOOVVEE MEEE when I get home!!), *loving of all 2 legged "dogs" as well as the 4 legged variety,*excelling in puppy classes,* always having a 'smile ' on her face..etc.

The taking on of a dog of unknown history ,purely to save the pups, purely because they should be given a chance ,- as everyone should be,- is a really admirable quality of philosophy of your organisation and not always found today.
But had you not done so then our extraordinary little Billie would not have had the chance to shine as she has already done so in her few short weeks so far.

So, THANKYOU, for many aspects of your work...
But, Mostly, THANKYOU , for giving us the bestest little dog we have met for a very long time!!
We have many photos on our phone cameras but, as yet ,have not worked out how to down load them.. but we will. You should see just how cute she looks with her one Kelpie ear up, and , her one  (?) Staffie ear twisting around  sideways. She was sleeping in the basket, on the floor ,next to me ,quite happily until my husband encouraged her up on the bed ,too often, ....and , now, she sleeps next to me, all night on my bed! (with my"dog-hating-cat" right next to her!) What a life!!!

I will be in touch soon with those lovely pics! Until then, please keep safe and well, and wishing all those special dogs waiting for their forever homes  much health and good luck!

             Sincerely,
             Sarah Mochrie

NELSON (known as Crusty while in HAR foster care)
Hi Kerryn,

Just thought i would send you a little update on Crusty and some pictures.  He still looks small in the pictures but he is 2 or 3 times bigger now than when we first got him.  We have changed his name to Nelson but my girls have ended up calling him Nelly for short now which isn't very masculine is it! ha ha!  We live at Nelson but plan to move soon so we thought it would be nice to name him after the place we lived when he joined our family.

He has really settled in and is so affectionate.  He is always following one of us around the house.  Even if you go to the toilet he sits outside the door till you come out.  At night when i read the girls bedtime stories he likes to come and sit and listen too.  He has lots of little hiding places under beds and in cupboards but he has his own little space in the laundry too where he can go to get some peace and quiet.

We have started to let him out in the garden in the day for a run around as there is no way to get out and he loves sitting in the sun out there.

Just wanted to let you know that he is happy, healthy and we all love him being a part of our family.

Hi Kylie

just wanted to let you  know that Roxy is doing great and there is no chance that we would give her up. Hope you like the photo.

Thanks again

 RAPHAEL (foster failure!)
I have been a cat carer since late last year. When i first saw Spit (which i changed to Raphael after a teenage mutant ninja turtle within 2
minutes of meeting him) he was a big awkward kitten who was running around a million miles an hour tackleing anyone and anything he could
find. He was very lengthy and awkward in comparison to all the cutesy smaller kittens we had in care but i wasn't hesitant to put my hand up
to be his (temporary!) foster carer. I have 2 adult female cats of my own who i love and i never wouldv'e thought id fall for this awkward ginger
boy kitten! After about a week in our care i found my partner and I discussing how heartbreaking it would be to get a call to rehome him. It was
many days of us discussing quiting foster careing as it was so difficult and heartbreaking at the thought of loseing Raph. Although we had had
many foster kittens previously, and many many since Raph just seemed very different. Finally my partner put his foot down and said heres the
adoption fee if your not adopting him i am!
Since that time Raph has constantly grown and fits in amazingly with our other 2 older cats, our dog, duck and he always gets on really well
with any foster cat or kitten we get into care. He is an amazing little man and will play as gentley as he can with young kittens and as rough
as my older cats and dog can handle! He refuses to sleep on top of our bed beside either of us but must always be right in the middle and
still often just walks around purring like a truck for no reason! We have many many special kittens, and to other peoples shock I can still rattle
off every kitten I have had in care (probably around 40 this year) and am just so happy their fate was changed because of Hunter Animal
Rescue.  It is so rewarding making a difference to their lives, which often come with the most heartbreaking of stories and i  find great comfort
in placing them into loving families like Raph has become a part of ours. We are always looking for foster carers or amazing personalities
just like Raph's will get lost to a different fate.
I couldn't be a carer without the highest level of constant dedicated support from Keryn the cat-coordinator and i can't thank her enough for the
amazing commitment she has to all the animals in her care, to Hunter Animal Rescue and to the cat carers she supports so amazingly no
matter what time of day or how far away they are.

 DAVE
Hi to all at HAR!
We thought we would give you an update on our little man Dave. He is just a wonderful little cat. Loves a play...with anything, especially
our girl Dora. She is only 2 so the pair have bonded just as we hoped they would. They snuggle, groom, sleep & play with one another...often at early hours of the morning ;o) Dave has taken a particular liking to our 7 year old daughter, who as you could imagine, just dotes on this little fellow! He quite happily lazes on his back or propped up in a chair for a pat & you can hear him purring at the other end of the house!
While he has become an indoor cat, he loves to sit at the window & watch the world pass by & is forever the inquisitive one when we have visitors!. He is a little frightened of our fish (go figure!) but certainly not at all worried about the vacuum cleaner! We just love this boy & are so happy to have him in our home. He is growing (fast) into a sweet & well behaved (mostly) boy & we wouldn't trade him for anything!
His eye has healed fabulously & I wish to thank you for your support in helping with the matter. The Vet staff at Maryland are just beautiful people & are obviously devoted to the care & well being of animals.
A massive thankyou to Kelly who we got Davey from, she was extremely helpful with anything & everything we asked & we will be forever in aw of the work you all at HAR do.
We will be back when it is time to gain another member of our family & have already referred many of our friends & family to your services for future reference.

 ROSCOE
He plays happily in the back yard and today he did an under the floor inspection when he found the only TINY little access under the house. Joe and I were home and we could hear him barking on opposite sides of the house in no time flat. He had managed to break his way through the cracks (that are no longer there of course!) This morning I went out to meet him munching on an empty washing detergent box (clothes) which he had managed to retrieve from the laundry he no longer has ready access there!!!

As you said he was meant to be part of us. He already knows each one of us and he seems to be very happy here. Thank you again for trusting him to us. We love him already! It is pure joy for me to watch Joe with him and him with Joe.

You could write an entire thesis on the life of Roscoe. He is so wonderful. He has had a regular bath time, he is the lord of our house, Patricia wanted to take him away with her to Port Macquarie. He is growing and eating and loving being king of our back yard!

 ALEC

Hi Kylie,

Alec has been with us for nearly 3 weeks and is now freely roaming around our farm although we still lock him up at night as there are too many noises, smells and sounds that may distract him.

As you'll see in the photo he doesn't chase the cattle rather they seem to chase him.

He is a friendly and people dog and we appreciate the work of HAR and
especially you and all your family for the effort in finding Alec for us.

We're hopeful he'll continue to settle in well and we'll keep you updated
from time to time

 LILLY

Hi Kylie,
Lily is great. We all love her and so do the neighbours!!!!! She has managed to escape only 3 times which we now have fixed and we think that she can't do it again.

We would like to Thank you for giving us a chance to adopt  Lily. She is a beautiful dog and has fitted perfectly into our family. She is a perfect dog, she does not bark, she gets along with the kids beautifully and other dogs. Her favorite time of the day is going to the dog park and will pester us to take her out for her outing.

She has settled in quite well after a week and she is responding very well to our training- a very intelligent  dog. We are grateful for people like yourself providing a second chance for dogs like Lily.

KOMBI

Kombi was one pup of a litter of 5 who were dumped on a council rangers doorstep at 3am one morning, The attached note simply read "Lab x, wormed at 6 weeks". They were rescued from the pound the day before the Newcastle floods. Her ner owner adopted Kombi on his Birthday!

Hi Belinda,

Just wanted to tell you how well kombi is going.
She is the best present anyone could ever ask for.
She is so lovely to have around the house,
I love her to bits and so does everyone else.
Mum was telling everyone how she just fell in love with her.

Would love to come to the HAR reunion day in March. Can't wait to see all the other dogs. They are so cute!

Thank you so much,
You do a great job!

Can't wait to catch up with you.

MOCHA formerly known as Machiato and
BILLY formerly known as TW

Hello Tara and Belinda,
Sorry it has taken so long for us to get back to you with the photo's and our little story.

As you can see in the photo's our two little puppies that we got from you are just a little spoilt. BILLY who was know as TW is growing so much we can't keep up with him and as for MOCHA known as MACHIATO well she is still a little princess.
As you know when we got mocha from you she could not cope at all on her own so we had to make the decision to take her back which broke our hearts, so then we rang you to see about her sister, but she had a wonderful family to go to. That's when we found out that Mocha had the other half of her family living with another carer. We went around to find a play mate for Mocha and we got Billy(TW) and ever since they have been the best of friends.

Together they have done many things - going to the beach, parks, puppy training (which we are still working on) and many other activities as you can see. We were having problems with the two of them getting out through digging major holes in our back yard so that's when we got them a sandpit to play in then came the swimming pool to swim in and then the two beds plus a kennel and jacket to keep them warm and jackets to keep them dry and as you can tell by the list as i said just a little spoilt.

As you can see by the photo's they do love their toys and there food. Billy has issues with sharing food and the toys and Mocha has issues with sharing the bed and Billy coming on her walks so when they have finish fighting about those issues there is not much time left in the day for them to do much else. But when all is said and done they sleep together , eat together and hate being apart from each other.

Christmas would not have been the same without them and they were very happy that Santa knew where they were to drop there toys around, Billy and Mocha are lucky they he put them in the good list and Santa didn't brake his leg in the holes in the back yard when he stopped in. Billy and Mocha are also lucky that Santa didn't stick around the next day to see the fights over the christmas toys. (true love).

I think that Mocha having a friend was the best thing that we could have ever done as there was no way she was going back.. Well i hope that you enjoy the photo's and are shocked at how big Billy is now and how cute they both are..I hope that one day you will see them out and about (with us of course).. Thank you heaps for giving us our wonderful gifts... They are the best fun ever.

Kathryn and Simon Campise

P.S. Is there any way you could put the any of the photo of them in the next calendar on there birthday which is the 08/07/08 they will be turning 1.

NOTE FROM CARER -Mocha's sister Miss Moo (fomerly known as Mocha) has a success story further down.

A Cat Success Story
Bloop is a beautiful cat who has obviously thrived on the attention she recieves
Please find attached two recent photos of Bloop. She looks very much like a British Blue, though she is smaller than that breed. She has lost most of the long fur at her rear which was gingery, and developed a white spot under the neck and a white halo around her rump. She is incredibly playful and equally happy to be left alone, though does have an annoying habit of yowling at dawn. A bit too early during the holiday
season!!!

 MOODY

Thankyou so very much for recommending Kerryn as one of your foster parents for our Animal world !! To me she has shown to be an incredible Asset for H.A.R. To me she personifies what one does call, A True Animal Lover! and above all, to me she Radiates Humanity on the highest level . She is 'SIMPLY THE BEST'

                Thankyou so very much

 BELLA

Dear Naomi & HAR,

Just thought that I'd give you an update on Bella and I have attatched some current photos so that you can see how much she's grown (another story for your success page).

When I first saw Bella, my heart melted. She was so cute, with those little ears that always sit up, she was playing with her foster brother and stealing her foster mum's shoes. I knew the minute I saw her that it was fate that she had been returned, that she was meant to live with me and so she came home.

Bella is such a beautiful baby, she loves nothing more than to be surrounded by people and other dogs. She graduated from puppy pre-school with flying colours and she has even had swimming lessons. She also enjoys helping her Pop with the gardening (he's not so keen). In the new year we will be starting some obedience training too.

 NESSIE
Nessie is one of a litter of eight pups born in care

Hi Girls,

We thought you might be interested in an update on Nessie - she is going very well. She really is the BEST puppy. We took her to puppy pre-school for the first time on Monday, which was good fun, she is learning very quickly. She now knows sit and stay.

She also plays fetch with her squeaky soccer ball, the clever thing! Nessie is walking extremely well on the lead, and every day we take her to see the lake, which she really enjoys - she splashes around at the shore but she's not quite ready to go swimming in it yet. Have you heard anything of her brothers and sisters? And how is her Mum?

I have attached some photos, I think she has grown a fair bit! Hope you guys and all the other dogs are going well.

Best Regards,

Mary & Jordan

MISS MOO aka MOCHA
Hi Belinda and Mandy,

Miss Moo has settled in very well and follows Madeleine around like a shadow. They spend lots of time playing outside and running around. Toilet training is going really well - she now stands at the door and barks for us to take her out (Madeleine could not believe how many puddles one tiny puppy can make!). Loves her toys, always on the go chasing balls or throwing her toys around. She has a stuffed cow that she has become very attached to and takes to bed each night.

The vet was very taken with her last week when she had her C5 needle and a general check up. The kids all love her, she is just so playful and energetic. Miss Moo loves all the kids too, she thinks they are lollipops and licks them rather than biting. Oreo the rabbit, Harry the guinea pig and Cheeky the budgie all like having her around too. We haven't left them together unsupervised (and won't be for quite a while) but they do all seem to get along quite well.

We love her to bits, she is a fantastic little dog and so very cute. Thank you for taking such good care of her, the world needs more people like you.

EDDIE and PETIE PIE

THE SWEETEST SUCCESS STORY YET!!!!!

These are two of the Maltese boys mentioned in Mission Maltese. Who arrived in care matted beyond belief, possibly Parvo infected and quite frightened of people.

Before you read the following I just wanted to say that since joining HAR my life has never been the same. Yet, even after the all the difficult times, I wouldn't change my mind about doing Rescue ever. Mad? Maybe!! but it is really because of how a team effort can bring the sweetest of happy endings. Congratulations to Carol, Lynette, Karina, Nikki, Mandii and Bee for all the hard work that obviously helped make these little dogs dreams come true!!!!!

Kylie
HAR President

Hi Kylie,

Just thought you may like to know that the two boys we adopted back in, July I think it was now are doing well and have the run of our house-hold.  In case you don't remember these gorgeous little bundles of fluff were part of a group of 23 maltese, we were told, who were rescued from a "Breeder".

If you're in touch with Karina who was looking after these two when we first met them we thought she may be interested in these photos and also, Lynette who I had some communication with also.

After we had them vet checked and while we were having their teeth cleaned it was found that Petie had four rotten teeth which had to be pulled out but other than that they have proved to be remarkably healthy little buggers and are getting quite fat and lazy.  They each have their own very distinctive little personalities and you just can't help but love them and they are so funny.

They follow me around the whole house all day when I am at home and Colin, my husband refers to them as my little shadows.  They are slowly but surely beginning to trust us but walks are proving to be frustrating as they have no social skills whatsoever and I've gotten in touch with a dog trainer who I hope will be able to help me with this starting in the new year.  Apart from this they are an absolute joy to have around and we love them dearly.

I hope that you might be able to use some of these photos and comments to assist people who are considering it, to make their decision to take the plunge and adopt a dog that desperately needs a new home as these two have definitely fallen on their feet and we feel blessed to have found them.

Best regards
 Kelly Hulme

Booga Bear
I recently received these pictures of Booga Bear who came to me as a 5 week old puppy. It was amazing to see his photo recently and see him as a 5month old puppy. My how he has grown. His new Mum, Jos, says he is doing really well and is still just as sweet and gentle although somewhat bigger puppy.  Thanks for the updates, it is great to see how they look and to hear how they are doing in their forever homes.

SCOOBY

  Hi Kylie,

I would like to say thank you to both you and Monica for looking after Scooby and enabling him to be adopted to me. He is a wonderful little boy. I experience very bad depression and since having Scooby, I have a purpose to get up in the morning now. We go walking. His loves his toys and his cuddles. I don't know what I did without him now. So again thank you for taking care of him.

I have attached some pictures of him. He has settled in very well and he is such a lovable little guy.

BULLET aka YOSHI

Hi Kerryn,

I just wanted to let you know of another success story!
Yoshi... (Bullet).

We adopted Bullet on the 30th of august 2007 from Kerryn.
Thank you so much for giving us Bullet. He has settled in well and has responded well to basic obedience training including sitting, shaking, dropping & rolling over.
Adopting Bullet has been the best thing we could have done.
He loves being in the house , going for drives , & loves his walks. What a fabulous member of the family he has turned out to be... He gets so excited when he see's my daughter Taleah,  she loves him to death and gives him lots of attention, which he loves. She is sooo happy to have him and I think that he is very happy to have her too!
We can't imagine a day without him. He has made a big impact in our lives and will be an excellent buddy for years.
We are so pleased we found bullet, and we would all like to THANK KERRYN...
For giving us such a wonderful family member, he has certainly become an important member of our family !!!

SNOOPY aka Dara

Hi Kylie,
How are you doing ? I thought I would FINALLY send you an email
putting some words together about the past year with Dara(previously known as 'Snoopy' - 'Pig Dog'). We initially got Dara from you in Nov last year. After many holes were dug, clothes ripped off the line, daybeds chewed and chunks of skirting boards removed Dara has finally settled down to be a very a good dog. Many people have commented that he is a handsome dog which we are chuffed with as well.

He and our son Adrian get along very well and as my son has gotten older Dara is not as boisterous anymore as Adrian is now alot taller. Dara is great with kids (and females as well I must add !!). They both explore our back yard and are inseperable. He is a good guard dog as any strange noises like the gate being opened causes him to bark but for the most part of the day he is content to explore his domain, sit on his favourite chair and watch the world go by (always keeping an eye on where my wife Olivia is when she is home or in the kitchen as he can see her through the windows).
He loves playing with his favourite blue ball ( he has been nicknamed Dara-dona as his soccer skills are pretty awesome) but what he enjoys the most is lots of kisses and cuddles and for you to just sit near him (some things have not changed !!). He is allowed occasionally to come into the lounge room as well but as he is too big now for the couch he has to be satisfied with sitting on his bed near our feet.

This is just a quick note to thank you again for all your help and hoping you continue doing such a great job for these animals.

Firstly Lisa and I wanted to send you and all the carers a big thank you for the tireless work that you do. We adopted Mia (our little princess or wired haired Jack Russell) and Bailey (aka Schultz our jealous, little, energetic and cuddly Daschund cross) in May 2006. It was a big decision for us to adopt the dogs, especially Bailey as we only decided to adopt him when we went to adopt Mia. Except for some of the usual settling in issues, I can safely say it was one of the best decisions of our lives to adopt Mia and Bailey. They get on very well, love playing wrestles and provide each other with company when we are at work. It is funny how you can have 2 dogs that are complete opposites in so many ways and in the first few weeks it was funny getting to know their personalities and individual quirks. For a Daschund cross Bailey can jump very high and run very quickly, he also demonstrates good tree climbing skills in his nightly quest to chase the possums that occupy the large trees in our backyard. Mia was timid in the first few months as she got to know us and although she is generally a quiet natured dog she has really warmed to us and also enjoys cuddles when Bailey doesn't wiggle his way in front of her.

When we first called about Mia she had unfortunately already gone to another home but luckily for us they returned her within a day. Lisa still looks back at this and thinks it was fate that Mia was returned so we could adopt her and then to find Bailey when we collected Mia was a wonderful bonus. For anyone thinking about adopting a dog (or even better 2 dogs) we can highly recommend it as we think it makes a positive difference to your life. Yes they might rip some plants out of your garden and eat the nice new bed you have bought them, but it always feels nice to be welcomed home by 2 dogs that are ecstatic to see you.

Regards

Hi HAR, (Tessa and Justus)

I just wanted to let you know of another success story. We adopted Justus almost 2 years ago from Nikki. As soon as we saw him, we fell in love. He was a timid little thing who we could see had a beautiful nature. We were renting at the time and had some puppy problems with digging. We took him to obedience school but he was too disruptive around the other dogs. After 3 months, we just continued the training at home. He picked up training very quickly and was extremely eager to please. Now he can shake hands, roll over and hand you back a ball that he has just fetched. Not bad for a puppy that would hardly say "Boo". As time went on, Justus got used to new people and playing with new puppies. We get together with friends and take all our dogs to the park together. Since my partner and I work every day, we decided it was in Justus' best interests to adopt another dog. We spoke with a few people and heard that a male will get on better with a new female, rather than another male. After much searching, we found Tessa (carer - Kathryn). When we met Tessa, we (including Justus) bonded straight away. Justus and Tessa wrestled and played. Justus was in love. A week later we picked her up for the trial and Justus was amazed when she turned up in our car. We have only had her on trial a week, but it feels like much longer. Tessa and Justus get on like old friends. They both love their cuddles and wrestles. They share their bones, toys and kennel with each other. Tessa is also learning sit, drop and stay. It's taking her a bit longer (she's a bit of a dreamer), but we'll help her all the way. So thank you, HAR. You have improved our lives twice, and given our boy a friend for life. They are inseparable. We love them both and couldn't live without them. Thank you for your wonderful work in re-homing loving animals with loving families.

From Sarah, Luke, Justus and Tessa.

Hi Kylie,
I promised you a success story for Ronnie many many months ago, I apologise for not doing it sooner. I heard you on the radio which made me feel VERY guilty for not getting back to you earlier.

Ronnie is a very clever dog who has learned the basics of cattle work very quickly. He is a very affectionate little dog, who loves nothing better than a pat and cuddle. He has picked up basic obedience cues extremely quickly. He is great with the other dogs and he has fitted in really well. He has put on lots of weight and even though he uses lots of energy around the farm he is keeping the weight on well. He seems to gain in confidence every day which is allowing his huge potential to come out more and more. He is a very special little dog and we are so grateful for the priviledge of adopting him.

Ronnie has become a very special and important member of our family, we love him dearly.

Thank you so much Kylie and HAR

Just a short note to let you all know how well Tazzy has settled in.  She now lives with 'Little' and enjoys pats in front of the fire of a night and sunning herself on the verandah in the morning.

Thanks again for the opportunity of adopting her, through your organisation, especially Cassy her carer :-)

Today has been a big day of firsts for Daisy Beagle. Daisy's first day at training. She had a most enjoyable time meeting a whole stack of new friends. She even got to walk her human friend Adam around the park. He followed her everywhere, did everything he was told. This training is FUN.

Daisy's first day on the boat. Well she didn't believe Charlie when he told
her this boat thing might look like fun but it is really hard work for
Beagles. She found her spot and settled in for the ride, wind in her hair ,
shooting the breeze WOW this is fun, what was Charlie talking about. We
found a little sand island near Swansea and abandoned ship. WOW a whole
island to explore how much fun can a beagle have. Charlie you just wanted to
keep this for yourself!!!. Daisy lets go for a swim, WHAT get my pretty feet
wet are you kidding, I just had a bath yesterday. Her first swim may not
have been completely to her liking but it didn't take long for her to learn
to like this swimming thing. It wasn't long before she was racing Charlie and whooping his butt. WOW this is fun. Time to go Daisy, NO not yet, Please...

She slept all the way home. She is in her favourite bean bag right now,
sound asleep. I don't think we will be going for a walk tonight. Daisy has asked me to say thank you. She is quite happy with her new surroundings.

Hi Kylie,

Chilli has today gone to his new home on acreage, with a female doggy pal, a nice daddy & mummy (mum is a vet nurse) and two children. He said to say thanks for saving him from certain death and a troubled early start in life. Some people are rotten inside. He said he hopes to endorse your faith in him and to live each day with gusto. He said to me, more than once, that you were his guardian angel. I believed him.

Thanks Kylie!

Dear Mummy, thank you for rescuing me from the pound, i am having a great time with my new daddy.

Miss you

Hi Kylie

Benny's settling in a treat - I think the first 3-4 hours or so, he was a bit "where's all my mates???", but the poor old pup didn't get time to scratch himself in between Emily chasing him around/calling him constantly/giving him cuddles! He's just the sweetest, most adorable dog...

I was describing him to my Mum, who lives in WA, this afternoon and the best description was that he is like an old dog in a young dog's body - he's just so placid, gentle and nothing phases him. I was telling mum how I hadn't even heard him bark yet and Emily walked out the back door and it gave him a bit of a fright and he let out a "woof" noise at long last, so I know he has a voice, he just chooses not to use it! The other funny thing about him - he's extremely intelligent. He's already learned that if he parks his bum on the floor in the kitchen and gazes at you with his big soulful eyes, someone will be willing to give him something yummy - I think he had more devon (blech!) at lunchtime today than Emily did! The other funny thing is that he's so quiet that he'll disappear off and after a while you'll go looking for him and there he is, camped on Emily's bed, or our bed. Beautiful! I really think the lessons will be wasted on him, though, because it's as though he's already had lessons in obedience. He's not doing much of what I say, but then again he's probably looking at me as if to say "When you get a real voice, instead of that poxy, squeaky one, I'll start doing as I'm told". He sits on command already though - especially if there's food around!

Once again, thank you very much for entrusting him into our care - we all love him to bits already!!!

Warm Regards
Di

Hello I adopted Scodie

What A CHARACTER
Loves the farm , loves the cats and other dogs.
Loyal as can be
Sits on your shoulder to be extra protective in times of stress eg vet visit.

Here is a photo of him looking aprehensive but what an expression.

Many thanks

Hi Stephanie,

thank you so much for giving us Zebedee he is a truly lovely dog & we wonder every day how anyone gave him up. He has settled in well with our older female Shar-Pei Uma & in  many ways has breathed a new lease of life into her. He has responded well to basic obedience training at least when his over exuberance does not get the better of him. There is nothing that will stop him from going to say hello to another dog in the park no matter how far away they are, but that is just part of him wanting to be everybodys friend. He really is a fantastic example how loving even dogs that have a bad start to life can be. Keep up the good work.

Kind regards,  Jerry Jones

Dear Kylie

Just wanting to let you know about Smurf. I finally have some photos my son took with his digital camera down the park where she's doing what she loves to do most and thats running. We take the dogs down to the park every day for their run (Patrick doesn't mind if its raining) and they have learnt to chase a ball. Bear brings it back but Smurf only brings it halfway, which is fine, she just loves the game.  They both have a swim during their walks when its hot.

What a fabulous member of the family she has turned out to be. She has a lovely gentle nature and has easily fitted into our routine. Bear had his annual vaccination in November and I had the vet Collins give both of them an annual heartworm injection.  Smurf is due in March for her vaccination shot.

They sleep out in the sunroom at night but during the day when we're home the dogs are with us most of the time. They have dry food in the morning and a mixture of cooked vegetables, tinned food, grated raw carrot, vegetable oil and meaty bites in their meal in the afternoon and bones regularly.  Their black coats shine with good health and happiness.

The best time is when they are let in in the morning and they come dashing in, jump on the bed and smother us in licks and wet noses and cuddles. Smurf then curls up between Pat and I and sleeps while Bear goes to the end of the bed and watches the birds out the bedroom window. We are so pleased we found Smurf.

Merry Christmas
Julie and Patrick

Dear Kylie

Zac and Josie (white nose) are two Border Collie X pups i adopted from Hunter Animal Rescue. Josie was quite timid when I first got her due to neglectful treatment in her past but she has got past that very quickly.
Josie and Zac have become a great trouble making team - eating shoes, digging holes (all the normal puppy stuff) however their adorable faces and endless love and affection makes it impossible to stay mad at them for more then a few minutes. They are such great pets and have brought so much love and fun into my life.

Kimberley

Hi Kylie,

Just to let you know that Louise, now Elbe, has settled right in and is running the house, except for the cats of course, who are, as usual , running themselves. She was a bit quiet yesterday but is a different dog today, runng around, playing, cuddling, and snoozing. She had her first bath yesterday, was an angel all night, and today has a new bed, a lovely pink collar, and lots of new toys to play with, including Chris and I!!! Only 2 accidents in the house so far and they were my fault for not reading the signs better. I'm paying more attention and being more vigilant. She's really smart so will learn quickly.
Thank you so much Kylie for giving us such a delightful little girl. We adore her.

Jackie

Hi Kylie

Just thought we would update you on how Toby is going. He has settled in very well and our son Peter adores him, although he is a bit tentative with him because he has never had a dog before. Nevertheless, he is keen to bond and it is lovely to see. He has met the extended family and they all thought he was great. We took him up to The Entrance on Sunday and, for the first time, he seemed a bit nervous, as if he recognised the place - it brought back memories. Perhaps he was from that area in a previous life.

So, apart from a few toilet issues, which I guess are standard stuff with young dogs, he is a breeze and extremely lovable, as you said. Here are some shots of him to keep you in the picture.

Have a great Christmas and thanks again.

Regards
Annie, Keith and Peter

Tigger

Hi Mandii,
Tigger has settled in beautifully. We just love him to bits as do all our friends. He is a ball of energy- loves playing with Dusty, going for walks and running in the park. He is learning to walk on the lead without pulling and to sit on command. We are delighted that he is so happy and socialised. It's obvious that he has been much loved before coming to us.

Sparky

Hi Mandii and Belinda,

He is such a bundle of joy he has made himself quite at home, I have sent some photo's for you.

Charlie

Hi Guys,

I wanted to let you both know that I'm very happy in my new home with my new mum and dad!

Hi Kylie,
When we took Didi home with us we were so impressed with her gentle nature
and intelligence. We considered ourselves so lucky to have found her but we
couldn't stop thinking about her brother Deisel left behind. Three weeks
passed and Chris rang to find Deisel was still available and we knew it was
meant to be.
It wasn't until we saw the two of them together that we realised they had been missing each other terribly. Didi instantly become more outgoing and playful and Deisel hasn't left her side. They can't be separated from each other and are so happy together.
Didi and Deisel love their walks and greeting their dog friends as they go by. Their favouite toy is a squeaky dog that they love to tease each other with, it is always selection of the day! Wrestling and chasing are their favourite games and they don't mind if we join in too! We have discovered the two of them love a good game of tug-of-war with our socks and are quite partial the odd shoe or two, as fast as we hide, they seek!
Our cats Lenny and Ruby have Deisel bluffed and Didi shows a quiet respect for them. The birds Luvy and Bella are happy to be left alone - they're off limits. Between games Didi and Deisel love to share a cuddle with us and are
learning some new tricks.
Thank you so much Kylie for being such a kind and caring person. What a
fantastic job you do saving these beautiful animals and giving so much pleasure to others. We constantly praise you and HAR and thoroughly recommend anyone looking for a pet to save an animal's life and check out your website, it's a good feeling and very rewarding!

Kind Regards
Chris, Cheryl and family

Here's Honey, and her new Dad

Hello Kylie
As you can see Honey is spoilt and Dad is very happy with his dog it has been very good for him. Anyway thanks again for all your help.
Jo.

Kylie
Buddy is going good and has fitted in well, apart from a bit of whinging in the early days. Ashlee and he have a ball, I think they are even stevens in the wrestling stakes although I think Ashlee may have the upper hand. The cat is very impressed with him (NOT), they do play but buddy doesn't know when enough is enough, although the cat soon tells him, six wacks across the nose before he even knows what hits him. He loves the wafter and goes good in the car and oveor all your help.
