Some of our other success stories!

Hi Kylie,
Our adoption of young jake has been one of the best things we've done.
Always keeping us on our toes with his antics.
By night a quiet companion but come day he's out playing with 3 yr old
kelpie Toby (another HAR dog) proving age and size don't count for much.
Already trying to be the boss!
Well behaved and so far easy to train Jake has made a big impact in our
lives and will be an excellent buddy for years.

Ian & Stacy

Last Thursday my husband and I went to see Kylie about adopting a pup, Belle. It would have to be one of the best things we've done yet. We lost one of our dogs last week, Delta died of cancer and our other dog Tess was fretting for her, they'd been together for 11 years. So we adopted Belle, who we've now named Tia.

She is simply gorgeous, courageous and above all loveable. I didn't think she'd grow on me so fast but the little bugga has.

In just a few days, she's learnt to come to her new name and she's also learnt to sit when told. Tia and the cats don't exactly see eye to eye yet but that will come with time. Tia couldn't help herself on Friday in the backyard. She insisted on chasing one of our cats, Marcus. I watched from the kitchen window for roughly 5mins. In the end, Marcus spun around and started chasing Tia. Things got a little out of hand, Tia growled at him then slapped him, Marcus then turned on Tia and slapped her on the face and ear. She hasn't gone near Marcus since, a valuable lesson learnt.

She has been great company for old Tess. Tess is 12 years old and we weren't sure if she'd adjust to having a pup around her but she's getting along with Tia, mind you, Tia is a persistant pup who won't give up till she wins someone over. Both dogs should be sleeping in the laundry but because everything is new to both of them, they have the laundry and kitchen to sleep in. Tia has a large stuffed dog that she cuddles up to everynight, it looks so cute. Tia is fitting in exceptionally well and we are so proud to be her new owners. Its hard not to love an animal as they give all of us unconditional love.

There is no chance of us surrendering her back to HAR, she's here to stay, we're all in it for the long haul.My husband and I would like to take this opportunity to thank HAR, without you guys we wouldn't have Tia and Tess would more than likely still be fretting, knowing Tess like we do after 12 years, she'd more than likely would have willed herself to die.

Kind Regards
Monica Miller

Jenny,

Thank you so much for your email.
Charlie is settling in very well at his new home and knowing some of his past explains why he is still very jumpy & timid at times.
Charlie loves a cuddle, sitting on his chair in front of the fire and being with his new family.
At the start of his stay with us he was quite the escape artist but luckily we got him a name tag with a phone number and he was returned back to us in quick time. You think you've covered every hole and this happens.
Charlie now has a new and improved personalised house (not a loner) painted in his favorite footy team colours, the Knights.
He has now taken over ownership of the backyard and is starting to come out of his shell, which is good to see.
It appears that apart from lying in the sun, his favorite pass time is playing ball with everyone.
I must agree with you, he is a unique little fellow and everyone who meets him says the same thing.
We are the lucky ones to have such a top little bloke with us.

Thanks HAR.

Regards,

Suzie, Dale & Dannielle.

Hey there Kylie!

This is Renai here, I managed to get David's email address to send you a picture of our new baby girl. Barney loves her, he is a new dog! I have never seen such an attentive role model, he is so gentle (given his 32 kilos!). We will get the adoption agreement done ASAP, however, I thought you would appreciate a photo of Ziggy (her new name that she responds to very quickly!) with her big brother. We are all very happy, I didn't realise how much more I could love Barney and a new pup! Thankyou for the wonderful work you do! You bring so much happiness to so many lucky dogs and people!

Cheers Renai.

Thankyou for Jade. She is fitting in nicely. She is fine with Sophie ( our cat) Toby (our rabbit) and Cedric ( our bird). She likes to sleep inside, although we tried to get her outside! Jade hasn't got fetch yet because she forgets what stick or ball she is fetching!
Jade is a typical puppy. She sits on peoples laps when they sit down. She has once got into the hammock, but could not get out without our help. She likes to lick everything including, our hands, our toys and even the windows.
Jade runs like a grey hound. She is very fast but gets tired easily. When we go for a run she often has to stop to lie down and have a scratch on the belly.

We can't imagine a day without her.
Thankyou so much for Jade HAR!
And thankyou Kylie for looking after her!

Hi Jenny,
June here , I'm the person who is adopting Gizmo.
He is a joy to love , I was wondering if you could get a message to Stephanie, just to let her know that Gizmo went very well last night and seems to be settling down fine. Also tell her Charlie my little dog is starting to except him to. I would like to say thanks very very much for the service you provide for these sweet things . I just wish I was able to do more. Keep up the great work and may I say if you other carers are as nice and as helpful and caring as Stephanie , then those little souls are in good hands .

Thank you again .
Cheers June

Sophie
A puppy was the 'sweetener' for my 2 daughter's aged then 9 and 10 (now 10 and 11) for their 3rd school in as many years. Having our own home made it practical and with a large, though unfenced yard... my ideal of owning a cattle or kelpie cross was now possible. Earlier, before moving, there had been a junk throw out day and we had collected, in our travels, a cane basket for our expected new 'baby' I had not owned a puppy for quite a few years, our last dog being an older pup of 10 months with 3legs, a beautiful purebred blue cattle dog, that I owned for 5 years before reluctantly finding a suitable home for, realising living in a national park with such a breed was not a good mix.
So the saga begins.. Op-shop shopping expeditions produced a variety of baby blankets, squeaky toys and suitable bowls. The yard needed gates and we put in a wire back fence about half way done our yard so she could see out and even dug out the edges and lined them with buried tin or bricks, so she could not dig out underneath. A wooden crate was converted to a kennel and underneath the house was blocked off. Finally the yard is secure. She was a long awaited member of our family.
Puppy food in the fridge, puppy shampoo on the shelf and a collar and light lead hanging on the back of the door, my boyfriend teased me about 'kidnapping' the heighbours dog and reminded me when I was debating the best dog shampoo to get that I didn't actually haveeee a dog yet .

The big day.... Finally ready to go puppy shopping. My 2 daughter's, myself and my boyfriend all went to a local shelter and excitedly discussed amoungst a litter of kelpie cross pups which one to take home. Choosing out one we spent some time with her. I questioned the attendant about her being so quiet, to be honest, she reminded me of a pup years earlier that had died of parvo a week or so after I had gotten her. I was assured she was ok. The next day we turned up to pick her up, paid for her and ...sure enough... she is sick. Turns out a strong positive for parvo. While I realise that it is not the shelters fault and parvo is a terrible disease that is hard to contain... try explaining that to a 10 year old. I was sad to, this was a litte girl pup that I had held and was going to love for the next 15 odd years.

Returning home we pondered the dilemna with all pups now in quarantine at that said shelter. Comforting my upset daughters with the reassurance that somewhere out there, there is a pup for us. That perhaps we had alerted them to the fact that the disease was active and saved some of the pups while ending the suffering of the ones to sick to save. A consolence being if we had brought the pup home it would have been worse, affecting the area where we live and allowing my girls to become even more attatched.

My mother and her beloved cat were at our family vet for a local check-up and upon telling him of our experience, he told her about animal rescue. I looked it up on the net and there were a number of cute pups, luckily the ones we were interested in were all with the same person.
Animal Rescue and Kylie save the day.... After a phone call, I arranged that very afternoon for us to visit. Our first impression was one of a Kylie surrounded by happy puppies that obviously adored her, walking up the driveway. With one in her arms, kylie could tell us about each individual dogs background, personnality and general make-up. Her obvious care for her young charges was nice to experience and a credit to her. We spent happy moments talking about the pro's and con's of pups and having picked out 'Bindi' a red cattle dog cross pup, we set about doing the paper work. Bindi was timid, after my earlier experience I was cautious that her health was good. Kylie's confident reply and realistic approach reassured me...and I am so glad she did.. Kylie 'knew' bindi and explained she was the one she always fell over when she turned around. Upon taking her home and a name change ..(bindi;aka as Sophie..a name that had been chosen months in advance for her), Sophie soon decided being spoilt was the life for her.

Life with a puppy... Sophie has her own mat and rawhide bones plus a couple of cuddly toys. She is truly a delight and fits in wonderfully with our family. While it sometimes gets tiresome with cold night toilet training, she is 'getting the idea'...persistence is the key...just like kids:). She is a lovely natured pup with a mischievious quality.I want Sophie as a indoor dog as well as outside. We also have a hand-raised cockatiel (Rosie) who is also a loved member of our troupe. Of course, we would never leave sophie and rosie unattended when rosie is out of her cage... after all sophie is a puppy and could easily hurt her without meaning to... that also ..has turned out well with sophie quickly learning rosie is a 'no-go' zone...(just like the kitchen garbage bin)
Sophie can now sit on command and is working towards 'stay'and 'down' and recognises the word 'mat'. We use 1 word rather then sentences to make it easier for her. She demolishes her rawhide shoe and I buy her 'puppy treats' I do not give her human food, other then pasta or vegetable scraps. Kylie gave me advice on her feeding and she loves the puppy roll.

With animal rescue I feel welcome to ask questions or come forward with any queries I have. The support is great. I am looking forward to our 2 free training lessons and plan on taking my daughters, so they can be actively involved.

Sophie has added a facet to our lives. I thoroughly enjoy her company and she makes us all smile.

Hi, my name is Buddy. I have been with my Mummy and Daddy for about 5
months now. During my time here I have graduated from Puppy Pre-School with
honours and am excelling at Obedience Classes.

I have a cat friend named "Tilly" who I love to chase around the house and
I now have a new little brother named "Noodle" who I love to play and romp
around the yard with. I also have a human as a best friend. Her name is
Sophie and she comes over just to play with me. She even lets me sit on her
bed with her.

I have my Mummy wrapped around my paw, all I have to do is sit and raise
my paw for a shake and she picks me up for a cuddle.

Thank-you Mummy and Daddy for adopting me, I love you both lots and lots.
Thank-you Leah for taking such good care of me before my Mummy and Daddy
found me.

BYE FOR NOW BUDDYxxxxxx

Radar

Hi Stephanie & Leah
Radar is settling down really well, was tense for a day but relaxing a lot now.  He had a great run around today in the property, loves to play!! Puss is slowly getting closer to him, not quite ready to touch him yet.  Attaching pics for you and will send printed ones with the form to you Leah.  He certainly is living up to your description of him! We love him heaps already!
Will make a video over the next few weeks to send you. He is better with Bernie now, still a bit nervous at times with him, but is attached to me already!!

God bless
:-)
Marg & Bernie,

Bella

Hey there Kylie,
It looks like it's snowed here yesterday! .............It was actually all the beans from the bean bag! I came home from work yesterday to find the old bean bag bed we had for them had a small hole in it & the beans were EVERYWHERE! I gave up sweeping them up & i'm just waiting for the wind to blow them away now!
I bought Bella her proper engraved name tag today. It was very exciting! Feels like she's officially part of the family now. The name tag makes a tinkle noise so we can now hear her when she walks around. We've previously been calling her name only to find she's right beside us! She's no longer a stealth dog!
She fell in the pool the other day while I was gardening. I ran over & half dived in to get her & managed to grab 2 handfuls of fur & pull her out. Besides the fact that it was cold she actually enjoyed it I think! She's been near the pool since & put her foot in so it hasn't frightened her away. I think she'll love the water come summer time. Hopefully she can teach Lexi how to swim without having to touch the ground all the time.
We call them "the girls". They still kiss & clean eachother. They've been on many walks together & are getting along fine. They do laps of the balcony at all hours of the day & night. Lexi cannot catch Bella as she is much faster, so this game can sometimes continue on for hours!
Bella has tried to jump & catch the flying birds that are over 15m above her! This is very amusing, especially for the birds I'm sure!
Thankyou for saving such an adorable puppy!
Penny, Chris, Lexi & Bella xx

Jazzy (Nancy)

Dear Kylie, Thank You for the email with my reciept & free lessons.Jazzy has settled in really well, her first day she seemed to miss her family from your place and all she wanted to do was be cuddled all day and there was no shortage of those being offered, to her.She slept really well in her new kennel ,we moved it on the veranda near the door so we could check on her through the night. We all raced out to see her in the morning and we where all greeted with her very happy to see us with her wagging her tail.Milly has taken to her well ,she is still letting her know that she is boss and all the balls in the yard belong to her, jazzy will run and grap a ball and run under the veranda where milly can't reach or run and hide it in her bed.It is funny to watch how Jazzy has worked it out already on how to get milly to chase her.Jazzy also knows Milly wont come up on to the veranda so she can bring everything up there and Milly wont get it.Jazzy was very timid towards my husband and would'nt have much to do with him on Friday, but with lots of encouragement over the weekend she soon realised that he wasn't a bad guy, she is not real keen when he has his work jacket on, but I think over time she will over come all of her fears and she will be a great dog.I am trying to take her to as many places as I can with us eg School to pick up kids, soccer etc So that she will understand that with us she is safe and that most people are good people.
Thanks Again I will keep in touch Leane

Bonnie

Kylie, I just wanted to let you know I am fine. I miss you all and there is no
other play mates here. The humans are very friendly but the cats make strange growling noises when
I try to say hello.I've been for a walk twice. Sleep under my new dads bed. Been on the kids
beds. They shared their food at tea time, all I have to do is sit and they
share. Shared the cats food but the humans did not like that they spoke in a
angry voice. The yard is smaller but I have spent most of the time inside.
Have to go and see what the kids are up too.

BonnieJust wanted to say thanks for yesterday the kids love her. She has checked
every think out and knows how to get a rub.Garry

Scout

We recently received your letter regarding Scout's registration.  We wanted you to know that Scout is a real treasure.  She loves playing in the dam, as you can see, and she has us very well trained.  She has two lovely labrador cousins who visit regularly and a doberman next door who is a great pal.  We're moving house in a few weeks on to a larger acreage, and when that happens we are very keen to get another pup from you, so we will be keeping an eye on the site for another clever, active dog who will enjoy lots of space!  We had wondered if Chester might be a good match for us...  Of course, when the time comes we will bring Scout along to get her approval, but in the meantime, we wanted to say thank you so much.  She has certainly become an important member of our family! Regards, Alyssa and Christopher

Jackie & Poppy

Hi Hunter Animal Rescue,Just to let you know that Jackie and Poppy are happy and that we'd love to have them stay with us permanently.  They remain timid little girls, but are coming out of their shell beautifully.  They go every where with us.  My son loves them a lot, and they warm our home.  I will send you back the dog tag.  My apologies, but we lost a tag.  My friend gave me a book today, 'Holidaying with Dogs', so 'the girls" as we call them, will be off camping soon, will send you regular photos for library of success stories. Many thanks and sincere regards Toni

Daisy

Just a short note to say that Daisy has settled in well,  she would not settle in the laundry at night so we are letting her sleep on the lounge and she seems happy enough with that!! so she won that battle!!. I am giving her chicken and rice and she is eating well, and even ate a chicken neck this afternoon as well as her tea.   She is a darling little dog and we are very happy to have found her, and will of course be keeping her.   I will send her tag back in another week when we have replaced it with one of our own, not that she would stray, as she sticks to us like glue!!    The last few days she has been licking her right paw, it seems to be worrying her did you notice that?  she seems to have a little red spot that she cannot leave alone.    Thankyou for everything you have done for daisy, I know the lady would have been very gratefull to you.

Debbie Just a quick email to let you know that Debbie is going great with us.  She is fitting in so well with us it is like she has been here for ages.  She wants to go everywhere with us, loves the car and we have taken her to the beach and she loves it.  The whole family thinks she is beautiful.  I rang the lady that took Lilly and she said she loves lilly and she has settled into her new home.  it is like we were both meant to meet that day at your house.  Anyway, thanks again for introducing us to Debbi, she has filled a huge gap left by the passing of our lovely poodle.  I will be in touch if I need anymore info.

Melissa

Hi Jenny   just to let you know that Melissa has settled in really well to her new home.   She spend the first evening looking around in every room, checking out every nook and cranny.  She,  being a CAT,  treated the bed we 'd make for her with utter disdain !!!!!   She ended up,  late at night, curled up on the rumpus room lounge with my eldest son as he watched tv, then slept on that lounge all night.  She likes to curl up and be around us we eat,  and when we watch tv.  She also has a little hideaway,  on one of the dining room chairs,  hidden by the long tablecloth.   She has learned how to use the cat door to go from the kitchen to the back (enclosed) patio, to lie on the concrete,  or on the old trakky daks on a cut down cardboard box,  that I put out there in the daytime for her. She has a litter tray, as well as water, out there.  When she's bored with the  patio,  she comes back though the cat door,  to see what's happening,  then to curl up for another sleep.   She has a litter tray in the bathroom, and food and water bowls in the kitchen.   My husband and 2 sons are fascinated by her,  and so she gets lots of attention,  which she loves.  If she thinks she's being ignored,  she soon reminds us,  her STAFF,  that she needs a bit of fussing over.  Overall,  she seems happy to have taken over our household !!!!!!!!!
Thank you,  regards from Brenda

Hi Kylie

Two weeks has past since Della came into my life and there's no way I'm giving her up. She's an absolute joy and really smart. A bit fussy with food though. I'm sure that will change.

Thanks for your great service and I'll pass the word around to anyone looking for a dog.

Regards Andy

Dear Kylie,

Nearly 2 weeks have gone by since John and I adopted Kelly [or she adopted us - I'm not quite sure!] and your description on the Website was so correct - a lovely, gentle girl.  Our son Andrew and our daughter Kristy & her husband Robert all couldn't get over how easily she fitted into our home and hearts.  She was very shy and uncertain for the first few days, but gradually began to come out of her shell until now she bounds into the kitchen every morning to greet everyone with her tail wagging so much it's a wonder it doesn't fall off.

As you said her appetite returned with a vengeance, she eats everything we give her, including crunching up her first big heartworm/worm/flea tablet, something our other dogs would never do voluntarily.  She's put on a bit more weight now, and fills out her skin a little better.

She loves being in the house, so much so that sometimes she does not want to go outside and tries to ignore us, but eventually does the right thing. Her favourite place as you can see by the photos is on the lounge and she just snuggles up to whoever is sitting next to her.  She also likes to play musical chairs, whenever someone leaves to make coffee etc.  She behaved very well on her first walk but needs some work with being on a lead. All in all we couldn't be more happy with our choice and there is no way in the world that she will be returned to you!

Thank you once again for all you do for the animals in your care,
Regards,
Carole & John

Hey there Kylie,

Thank you for giving me my ideal puppy. Molly our cattle x is fitting in perfectly she has not had one accident in the house and she has a new kennel so she doesn't make a noise during the night. Molly has learnt some sneaky habits like jumping on the lounge, jumping on the beds, hiding in the garden, jumping on the pool floats and taking things out of our rooms and giving them away as presents to my mum and I. Although Molly has not warmed up to the men of the house as she has warmed up to mum and I think she is doing fantastic. Molly already knows how to sit, lay down, walk on the lead, fetch and she knows where home is. Molly is adorable and I couldn't of had her any other way. Molly is very obedient and she has the need to please everyone.

She loves having a rough play with me and she likes chewing EVERYTHING!

Molly has lots of toys to play with and lots of love from the family and we all think she is GREAT. Molly has taken an interest in most things in the house including our bird Ra.

Thank you again from Sophie, Louise, Garry, Nathan, Jeremy and Molly

Dear Jenny,

Just an update on Lola. You wont believe how well she has settled in or how big she has gotten, in 3 weeks she has nearly double in size. She is great with my other dog D'Artagnan and has him convinced that she is the boss even though he is about 100 times bigger than she is. She loves playing with my nieces and nephews and has all the neighbours in awe. They all know her story about her start to life and cant believe how good natured she is after what she has been through. D'Artagnan loves her to death and they cant be separated for even 5 minutes without one crying for the other. I have attached another picture of the both of them and her favourite place to sleep. Sometimes I don't know how he manages any rest with her lying on him all the time.

On a personal note I would like to thank you and everyone that rescues and looks after these poor little creatures. You all do such an amazing job and deserve medals. I have told many people of your services and hope that the next time they think of getting another pet they look at your website first.

Once again many thanks for my precious little Lola.

Regards
Shannon

Just a short note to let you all know how well Tazzy has settled in.  She now lives with 'Little' and enjoys pats in front of the fire of a night and sunning herself on the verandah in the morning.

Thanks again for the opportunity of adopting her, through your organisation, especially Cassy her carer :-)

Mick, Cheryl, Little and Tazzy

Kathryn

Today has been a big day of firsts for Daisy Beagle. Daisy's first day at training. She had a most enjoyable time meeting a whole stack of new friends. She even got to walk her human friend Adam around the park. He followed her everywhere, did everything he was told. This training is FUN.

Daisy's first day on the boat. Well she didn't believe Charlie when he told
her this boat thing might look like fun but it is really hard work for
Beagles. She found her spot and settled in for the ride, wind in her hair ,
shooting the breeze WOW this is fun, what was Charlie talking about. We
found a little sand island near Swansea and abandoned ship. WOW a whole
island to explore how much fun can a beagle have. Charlie you just wanted to
keep this for yourself!!!. Daisy lets go for a swim, WHAT get my pretty feet
wet are you kidding, I just had a bath yesterday. Her first swim may not
have been completely to her liking but it didn't take long for her to learn
to like this swimming thing. It wasn't long before she was racing Charlie and whooping his butt. WOW this is fun. Time to go Daisy, NO not yet, Please...

She slept all the way home. She is in her favourite bean bag right now,
sound asleep. I don't think we will be going for a walk tonight. Daisy has asked me to say thank you. She is quite happy with her new surroundings.  Michael

Hi Stephanie,

thank you so much for giving us Zebedee he is a truly lovely dog & we wonder every day how anyone gave him up. He has settled in well with our older female Shar-Pei Uma & in  many ways has breathed a new lease of life into her. He has responded well to basic obedience training at least when his over exuberance does not get the better of him. There is nothing that will stop him from going to say hello to another dog in the park no matter how far away they are, but that is just part of him wanting to be everybodys friend. He really is a fantastic example how loving even dogs that have a bad start to life can be. Keep up the good work.

Kind regards,  Jerry Jones
