BECOME A HAR "FOSTER FRIEND"

A "Foster Friend" is a caring individual, group or company who makes a donation of funds or goods to a specific animal currently in foster care.  Donations can be one off or regular, big or small and can also be made anonymously.  If you would like to become a "Foster Friend" for any of our HAR animals simply donate via PayPal or directly into our donation account and send an email letting us know who the donation was for.

SPECIAL NEEDS CATS AND DOGS

HAR and it's carers look after the animals in care as if they were their own, this includes seeing a Vet for illness or injury. We do not pass these expenses on to the new owners in the adoption price for the dog & cats. Extra vet expenses are covered by our fundraising and your donations.

Animal Number: 11053
Name: Carrie - On Medical Hold (20/12/11)
Breed: Maltese x
Age: Approx 9 years old
Sex: Female
Size: Small

A bit about me: Carrie is a very friendly dog who loves both people and other dogs. She has had basic training, and is improving all the time.

She is toilet trained and will sit by door to go out, but has had a couple of little mishaps (when I probably missed the signal).

She goes into the bathroom for bed at night, and also when I have to go out - without a fuss.  She is living with cats and wants to play with them, but they are very old and not that interested.

Carrie has a problem with one of her knees.  The condition is called "Luxating Patella". The knee cap on her left leg dislocates fairly severely and will need an operation "sooner rather than later". And her right leg may need attention as well at a later stage.

CAN YOU HELP? We are currently seeking donations so that Carrie can have an operation to correct the problem of "Luxating Patella" on her left leg.

Animal Number: 11045
Name: Chase - On Medical Hold
Breed: Dalmation x
Age: Approx 6 months old (DOB 19/5/11)
Sex: Male
Size: Medium

A bit about me: Chase is an adorable 7-8 month old boy who is deaf.  He is in care and needs intense training for him to learn sign language and to cope with his anxiety.  He is currently on anti-anxiety medication which has helped him tremendously.   He knows some signs and practices everyday.  He is very smart to learn more but needs reinforcement and more assistance with a professional trainer for him to obtain his fullest potential.  He loves to be near people, play with other dogs and is learning to swim at the beach.  He also goes to doggy daycare 2 days a week when his carer cannot be with him.

Update - 25/1/12

Chase went to Pet Resort yesterday.  He had on his Thunder Jacket prior to leaving so he could feel "anti anxious".  He had a bark in the school bus as they were leaving.  But apparently he HAD THE TIME OF HIS LIFE.  I rang them during the morning to see how he was coping.  He made a friend and apparently he went into the kennel of his own accord and had a lie down.  He was one very tired little man last night.

Oh you should see the difference in him.  He is getting to be such a good boy as he is able to understand the communication.

CAN YOU HELP? Any financial assistance to help Chase with training, ongoing medication and daycare would be most appreciated and very helpful so we can give Chase the best chance to live a fulfulling life that he's meant to have whilst learning to cope with being deaf.

Bon Bon

Bon Bon has been in care for over one year as a senior cat. She not only holds the record for longest cat in care but Bon Bon is the also the oldest at 17 (but please don't tell her that) and she is a testament to her carers dedication, optimism and strong love for what Hunter Animal Rescue do.

It has recently been discovered Bon Bon has developed renal insufficiencies of which specialty food greatly reduces side affects of this condition. Unfortunately renal cat food is very expensive. We have already had several very kind donations of renal cat food, all left over food or purchased in memory of individuals own cats who have passed on from similair conditions. As Bon Bon's new diet is making her feel better and better she is eating more and more so we will continue to appreciate any donations of this nature.

ALL RENAL CAT FOOD DONATIONS APPRECIATED

One of our senior cats has recently been placed on a special renal specific diet to treat a renal condition which is related to her age. We have received donations of renal cat food from kind people who's own cats have passed away and no longer require the special food they were on. We are very grateful and will continue to appreciate any food of this nature as a donation and hope it will enable healing within these kind owners in memory of their little friends who have moved on.
