LOST PETS  

1. ACT IMMEDIATELY - Don't wait, each passing hour reduces your chances of finding your pet.

2. SEARCH THE NEIGHBOURHOOD THOROUGHLY - Search sheds, garages, buildings, parks, schools, waterways, construction sites. Do a complete door-knock, returning to houses where no-one was home later and ask every single passerby - you never know who may have spotted your dog. If you have a local Neighbourhood Watch group, enlist their help. Ask the Postman - they go to every home and could be a great help. Ask schoolchildren - they WALK the neighbourhood, and can be a great resource. They may ao know if the dog is in someone's backyard.  

3. LIST ONLINE - There are many website that will list lost animals, we recommend "LOST PETS NEWCASTLE" for pets lost in Newcastle and the Hunter.  Create a facebook or myspace page dedicated to locating your pet its amazing how many people will help.

4. POSTERS - Make an A4-sized poster which has simple, clearly-read points. eg LOST, DALMATIAN, MALE, PHONE NUMBER. Ensure it is easily read from a distance. Only include a picture if it is representative of your pet, and will reproduce well in black & white. Do a letterbox drop in your area. Put posters in shops, vet clinics, bus stops, on telegraph poles, community noticeboards (check out local fast-food stores, supermarkets), school noticeboards. Stick a poster to the back window of your car. Notify your local police, the RSPCA, your local pound and vet clinics. Leave a full description of your pet, your name and contact details. Ask them to read the details back to you to ensure they have the correct details. Advertise in daily and weekly newspapers. Contact local radio stations - many run free announcements.    

5. VISIT ANIMAL SHELTERS IN PERSON - This is extremely important. The pound or shelter may mistakenly identify the breed, the microchip may not read correctly, or may have out of date information. You should check more than your nearest shelter and you should check more than once. See the bottom of our links page for a list of shelters.

Lost - 4 year old female Blue Cattle dog named "Josie". She is approx 20kg in weight, of short, stocky build, has a black patch over both eyes and is wearing a stainless steel chainlink collar.
Last seen in Clarence Town area on the night of New Years Eve.  Believed to have been frightened by fireworks nearby.

Lost - 9 week old male puppy Chihuahua named "Macca".  He is microchipped and is tan and black in colour.  He is not wearing a collar and has a shave mark on his neck (to tell him apart from his siblings at birth).
He went missing from his backyard at Budgewoi on 2/11/11 at approx. 5.30pm.

Lost - 4.5 month old female Cavalier King Charles named "Lucy" taken from yard in Broadmeadow between 6pm-11pm on Thursday 20/10/11.  She is tri-colour, responds to her name and her identifying marks are:
- White tail
- 2 small black spots on the bridge of her nose
- 1 brown spot on the outside of each front paw.

The pads on her front 2 paws are also a little misshapen, with the outside pad of each paw on the side rather than the bottom.

  Lost - chubby and friendly male cat named "Boxer". Exact breed unknown but looks like a Ragdoll x. He has light brown eyes, white furr with patches of grey and black throughout. His exact age is unknown.

Lost - 6 year old female Staffy x named "Harley".  Medium in size and wearing a purple collar (not a red one as shown in picture).  She resembles a Whippet x Staffy, and is a mixture of sand/light brown in colour, with darker spots.
Last seen on Friday night on 23/9/11 near Kotara Homemaker Centre at about 4.30pm.  Reward offered for safe return!

Lost - 2 year Old male German Shepherd. He is black and tan, microchipped and wearing a black collar. He went missing from the Whittingham area, just outside of Singleton. Two Jack Russell dogs are lost from Denman, NSW.
A male called Frankie, who has a white and tan face, white body with a few brown spots. He has long hair and was wearing a light brown collar.
A female called Ruby, who has a mostly tan face and ears with a wite strip going up her nose. She has a white body with tan spots and she was wearing a red collar.
They have been missing since Monday 18th July, both are loved family pets. They were last seen running down the street towards home.

Black and white cattle dog, very friendly and trained. White tips on feet and on chest. Not much hair near the tail. Friends say they have seen it walking around Shortland for a while now, but only at night. Need to know if she is lost or homeless (although she doesn't look or act like it). She has returned to my home a few times now. I will take her in to the vets to check for a micro-chip.

Lost - one 4 y.o. female Siamese Cross cat, answers to the name of "Abbey" and she is very friendly. She is grey in colour with white on her chin which then runs down her chest.
She has a purple collar on with an ID tag and bell attached.  She is microchipped.

She has been missing since Friday afternoon (6/5/11) and we would really appreciate your help. She had disappeared around 1-2pm on that Friday. We think she got into a delivery truck at Eleebana,
which then went to Floraville - therefore she may be in either suburb.

Lost small, mixed-breed dog - possible cross between a Ridgeback, Staffy and Daschund? She is approximately 2 years old, has an undocked tail and is very energetic.
She is tan in colour and has a small white patch on her chest and a tiny white spot on her ear.  She was lost on Monday 25th April between 6pm and the next morning from Regent St, Maitland,
wearing a black collar without a tag. She is microchipped and desexed. The photo is approximately 6 months old so she is a little bigger, but not significantly so.

Found: one female Staffie x approximately 3-6 months old wandering on Lake Road going towards Glendale, Newcastle.
She is a light reddish brown with white patches under her neck and white feet. We have taken her to our local vet and she is not microchipped. She is now located at Raymond Terrace.

Two Australian shepherds lost from their yard in Branxton on 23 Feb 2011. One named Desi: Blue merle (black/grey) and white female, looks like a Koolie/Border Collie, and the other named Shelby: Black & White female, looks like a Border Collie.
Both dogs are microchipped and have collars with phone numbers on them when leaving home. They have been spotted in the area between Maitland and Branxton last week. Reward of $1000 for their safe return.

Both dogs are microchipped however not yet registered for Newcastle.

Lorrie the lorikeet is about 1 year old, he loves to talk and whistle. He flew away on the 23/01/11 in the Hamilton North area. He has no fear of people, dogs or cats. He prefers to hop around on the ground rather than go flying. His favourite words are "Hello", "Peachie" and he loves to wolf whistle.

Missing from Fiztroy/Waratah St in Mayfield on 1/1/11 while in care (owner on holidays, lives at Rankin Park). Shakira is 6 yrs old, yellow eyes, black with white markings on chin/chest/belly with two short white socks on front feet and two long socks on the back, microchipped, desexed and registered. She was wearing a black collar with blue stars on it two bells, one blue the other silver. She has a blue tag with name Shakira and carer's phone number. Found: one blue, male Budgerigar on Monday 3 January at Charlestown East in bush. Appears to have clipped wings, short tail. Breeders tag on one leg.
