Hunter Animal Rescue Charter
Our Objective is to save the lives of abandoned dogs and cats and to re-home them into a new loving home, where the new parents will provide a safe, happy and loving forever home for their new addition.
Each Adoption Application will be closely assessed including property checks, we do this with no malice just a great deal of love for our animals.

Hunter Animal Rescue Adoption Agreement
1. A two week trial period commences from the date of adoption. Should you feel during this period that the animal is not suitable, it may be returned to Hunter Animal Rescue and a full refund made via post in the form of a cheque.
2. You agree to maintain and house the animal in conditions that comply with the current Standards.
3. You agree to abide by any State laws relevant to the safety of the animal during the trial period. He/she will at all times wear a collar with an identification tag attached as set out in the Companion Animals Act.
4. You understand that a member of Hunter Animal Rescue may inspect your premises to ensure the safety and security of the animal before /during the trial period
5. You agree to make this animal available for Mandatory Desexing as soon as practicable should this procedure have not been carried out prior to Adoption. When advised of an appointment time and a HAR Nominated Veterinary Practice, you agree to present the animal, and provide appropriate post-surgical care. The cost of Desexing is included in the adoption fee listed above.
6. Where alternate arrangements are made with Hunter Animal Rescue for desexing this animal, you agree to provide Hunter Animal Rescue with a legible copy of the Desexing Certificate by mail within two weeks so that Council Registration of the animal can be finalised. Adult animals must be desexed within two weeks of adoption and puppies/kittens no later than 4 months of age, unless exceptional circumstances apply and written permission to delay the procedure has been received from Hunter Animal Rescue.
7. You agree to take responsibility for any damage or injury caused by the animal during the trial period. Should damage or injury occur, it is recommended you return the animal to Hunter Animal Rescue as soon as possible. After the expiry of the trial period, you become legally responsible for the animal and it’s actions under current Local, State and Federal Law. You DO NOT become the legal owner of the animal until the completion of the trial period when the animal is registered into your name.
8. Should you decide at any time to surrender, give away or sell this animal, you agree to contact Hunter Animal Rescue and gain their consent.
9. You agree to take responsibility for any cost or charges incurred should the animal be picked up by local council and impounded. You must notify Hunter Animal Rescue and pay to have the animal released even if you no longer wish to retain ownership.
10. During the trial period, should the animal require medical attention, you will contact Hunter Animal Rescue and follow the directions given. You understand that any Veterinary costs incurred will not be refunded unless the animal is presented to a clinic agreed to by Hunter Animal Rescue.
11. An animal adopted from Hunter Animal Rescue can not be sold or used to make any profit for the new owners or persons associated with those owners. If the Owner wishes to offer this animal to a third party they must advise Hunter Animal Rescue and gain their approval prior to any transaction.
12. Should after any adoption, the new owner wish to surrender the animal back to Hunter Animal Rescue, they must do so with the understanding that no money can change hands. Hunter Animal Rescue may however re-home the animal and any moneys raised will be directed into the rescue of future animals.
13. Should at anytime during or after the 2 week trial period, HAR is of the belief that an adopted animal is being mistreated or at risk, Hunter Animal Rescue may seize that animal without notice. The Animal will only be returned to the Owner after Hunter Animal Rescue considers the situation resolved and the animal faces no further treat. Should Hunter Animal Rescue feel the situation can not be resolved then they may list the animal for re-homing whereby the owner will receive no moneys or refunds.
