Hunter Animal Rescue is a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers who dedicate their time to finding new homes for abandoned pets facing euthanasia. All animals are kept in foster carer homes, where they experience a good quality of life, and the carers get a good idea of a cat's personality and suitability for different homes.

All HAR cats and kittens are kept as strictly indoor / in enclosure pets to keep them safe from snakes, cars, dogs, fighting, hunting, straying and the harsh sun. All of our foster animals are very happy this way and we expect the same to occur in their new homes.

Lucy

female

My name is Lucy, I am looking for that special person to adopt me. I am a very attractive cat with long fur and I am not very big.
I need a new owner who will keep me strictly indoors. I am not a particularly cuddly cat but I do love attention, and a pat and scratch.
I don't like to be picked up all the time, but if you're patient, I will come to you for some affection.
I would suit a household with no children or older children. I get along well with other cats.
With the right owner who is patient, kind and who is willing to put in some time and effort with me,
I am sure that I would settle to be a loving family member and finally have somewhere to call my forever home.

I know there is someone out there who would love me, I just wish they would hurry up and come and meet me and realise that special needs cats like me need homes too.

Please contact my foster mum to find out more about me, or if you want to come and meet me.

Alex - On Medical Hold

female

Alex is currently on Medical Hold, after suffering injuries from a dog attack.  Read more about her progress here.

Alex is a lovely little cat, quite shy but her confidence around the house grows each day.
Once she gets to know you she also enjoys a good smooch & a scratch but isn't that keen on being picked up.
She can be timid & likes her own little hidey hole available for times when she just needs to get away from it all.
Alex came into care pregnant & has been an excellent mother to her kittens, very devoted & gentle.
I think Alex would enjoy a quiet home, no young children as she is startled by loud noises and Alex may also be wary of dogs.
She is a very pretty girl & with some time & patience she will become a beloved family pet.

To express interest in adopting Alex once she is off medical hold contact her carer, Michelle, on 0447710201 or send her an
email

Sabrina
female

Sabrina is a young mum of four delightful kittens.  She is very friendly yet cautious (until she gets to know you).
Sabrina has been with us for 4 weeks and is very quiet and affectionate.  She loves to be brushed and be tickled under the chin.
She does not whine or climb onto furniture.
She is happy to laze around in a quiet spot for most of the day watching her babies play.
She is a pleasure to have in the house and is looking for her forever home.
Vet work will be completed soon.

For more information on Sabrina contact Julie on 0425324728 or send her an email

Monty
male, 10 months

Monty is a very unique individual. He will win your heart immediately but it will take gentleness, time and patience for you to eventually win his.
Once you have, you will realise it has most definitely been worth it. He initially came into my care over 4 months ago – an extremely wary, easily startled adolescent who appeared to be too scared to trust anyone.
Four months down the track, he is far more settled and relaxed, talkative and cheeky, a very good companion without being clingy and an excellent consumer of cat food (hence, very easy to please in this department!).
The perfect home would be one without children (boisterous activity and loud noise still make him a little nervous). He also remains much more likely to run and hide when there is a man (human, that is!) around – possibly a remnant of something that he experienced in his former life before he was rescued by HAR. He seems to handle being on his own inside while I am out at work during the day without being destructive or showing any other signs of boredom.
He is fastidious about his litter tray and will often return numerous times soon after to rearrange the pile “just so” like a feline architect! If he feels you are ignoring him when he is hungry, he will ambush you as you walk past his bowl just to make sure you have not forgotten it is dinner time. He has a fascination with all things creepy crawly and has been known to spend hours lying in wait on the floor for a beetle, ant or spider to make its way under the kitchen door and into his domain to provide some entertainment. He loves been brushed, stroked and having his tummy tickled but is not really a lap cat.
All in all, if any of this sounds like what you may be looking for, I urge you to consider adopting Monty - you won’t regret it.

Juliet & Yoshi
female & male, 22 months

This lovely brother and sister pair were adopted as kittens, but returned to care in early December. Both are lovely cats who deserve a second chance at at loving forever home.

Yoshi is quite affectionate and friendly when you sit on the ground with him, but is not too sure of people when they are standing up and is very scared of loud noises etc.
He is the more confident of the two, and does pick on his sister sometimes.
He is not very fond of other cats and is happiest to just do his own thing and enjoy a pat every now and then.
He doesn’t like to be picked up but it does love the scratching post and spends a lot of its time lounging around on it and sharpening its claws on it.
They both love to sit on the veranda in the sun on their favourite chairs and soak up some rays...
Both have faded their fur from black to brown on some parts of them because they spend so much time there.
Would be perfect in a 1 cat household where he would be the centre of attention.

Juliet is the quieter of the two and is a very sweet, timid girl.  Although she has had a few weeks to settle into our home she still remains a little
unsure of us humans and almost appears as though she may have been mistreated in the past.
She will come to you if you sit on the floor, but her brother will often beat her to it, at which point she will just lie down and keep an eye on the situation from a distance.
She is quite wary of men and other animals.
I believe that with a bit of one-on-one time and a very special loving home this beautiful girl would flourish.
She shows signs that she wants to be affectionate but is often over shadowed by her sibling.
She enjoys the sun more than Yoshi and can be found every afternoon on her favourite chair.  She is okay with other cats and is not phased by my dog.
Needs a patient loving new home to bring her out of her shell.

For more information on either Juliet or Yoshi please contact Rebecca on 0413506177 or send her an email

Rachel - ON HOLD
female

Rachel is a beautiful, affectionate cat, whose kittens have long since found homes.
She is timid at times and would prefer a quiet household. She gets along well with other cats and
isn't afraid of my two small dogs. Rachel is a strictly indoors cat, who would love a home where she is allowed to sleep on your bed all day and get lots of cuddles

Bon - Bon

Our senior citizen!

Bon Bon, affectionately referred to by her carers as Rose, at 17 years old may finally have hit retirement age. This sweet old girl is slowing down.
She is enjoying spending her days lazing in the sun and her nights curled up by the heater.
She is now on a special diet for her teeth as well as her kidneys. Still considering this, Paul, her vet, said she is doing very well for her age.
